Varvara Baroutsou is a Physician by training, certified in Internal Medicine, holding a PhD in Respiratory Pathophysiology with postgraduate studies in Health Economics at the Stockholm School of Economics, European Market Access from University Claude Bernard Lyon 1 and extensive experience in clinical research Phase (II-IV) and translational medicine.

She has practiced Medicine in NHS and Academic Hospital environment as a clinician and clinical investigator as well as Medical & Scientific Director in the Pharmaceutical Industry (MSD, Abbott, Sanofi, and Novartis) in Europe.Currently she is holding the position of Western Europe, Chief Scientific Officer in Novartis.

In parallel, she keeps scientific and institutional activity, as President of the Hellenic Society of Pharmaceutical Medicine ELEFI, Member of the National Presidents Committee of International Federation of Pharmaceutical Physicians-IFAPP and working Groups of DIA. She is lecturing in postgraduate programs of Medical Schools on Ethics and methodology in Clinical Research, Pharmaceutical Medicine and Therapeutics.
