Ersi Voskaridou, MD, PhD, serves as the hematologist coordinator director of the Reference Center of Thalassemia and Sickle Cell Disease at Laiko General Hospital of Athens, Greece.
Since 1987, Dr Voskaridou has been involved in the management of patients with thalassemia and haemoglobinopathies. Moreover, she has been participating as a principal investigator in numerous clinical trials. Her clinical research interests include the effect of hydroxyurea on patients with sickle cell, the use of novel oral chelating agents in thalassemia and sickle cell disease, and the use of novel erythropoiesis-stimulating agents such Sotatercept and Luspatercept for several years. Dr Voskaridou is also interested in the biology and management of bone loss and osteoporosis in thalassemia and hemoglobinopathies.
Dr Voskaridou is the official representative of Greece in several International and European research programs. She chairs the Scientific Board of Hemoglobinopathies and Red cells of the Greek Society of Hematology and has given lectures in several national and international meetings.
